Int@j announces Mena ICT Forum 2010- Jordan

Under the patronage of His Excellency, Mr. Marwan Juma, Minister of Information and Communications Technology, the Information Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) organized a press conference to announce the first MENA ICT Forum 2010. In the presence of Mr. Ayman Mazahreh, int@j's Chairman and Mr. Abed Shamlawi, int@j's CEO, USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ) and Jordan Enterprise Development Cooperation JEDCO, the press conference reflected this year's Forum to be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah the second on the 10th and 11th of October at the prestigious King Hussein Bin Talal Development area.
Media representatives were gathered at the Four Seasons hotel to witness the launch of the preparation phase for the MENA ICT Forum 2010.

Previously and successfully organized as The "Jordan ICT Forum", the newly branded MENA ICT Forum 2010 will showcase an outstanding level covering the Middle East and North Africa region with a rich agenda. The openipong session will tap on Jordan's journey and key accomplishments since 2000 with an emphasis on the role of governments and current ICT related initiatives as well as investment opportunities to be followed by the "MENA at a glance" session with real life case studies and the current status of Arabic online content. Participants will then be acquainted with present business opportunities that are based on regional and global trends highlighting the role of social media, business process outsourcing and emerging technologies.

The event will conclude by an interactive and informative session that articulates recommended practical steps to capitalize on various opportunities guided by investment incentives and legislative environments.

His Excellency, Mr. Marwan Juma, commented: "The MENA ICT Forum aims at establishing a leading position for Jordan to serve as a regional ICT hub and an internationally recognized exporter of ICT products and services.

It is a unique opportunity for all participants that offers a holistic overview of the region's current position, investment opportunities on hand for creating regional offices for the largest and most prestigious companies to operate out of Jordan and recommended approach for leveraging its potential."

His Excellency commended current efforts and accredited Jordan for the success achieved so far in the field of ICT which will in turn open numerous doors for new markets to witness growth and success. Such important forums are integral affirming the need to raise social awareness to capitalize on the use of ICT to become a pivotal tool promoting social and economical change on local and international fronts.

Mr. Aiman Mazahreh, int@j's Chairman, said: "This year's Forum will feature a rich agenda covering vital current and future issues related to regional investment climates, legislative supportive systems, infrastructure and communications, emerging technologies, as well as education and human capital development."

"The MENA ICT Forum is the venue of choice for high-level decision makers from both the private and public sectors on local, regional and international levels." Mr. Mazahreh added.
It is worth mentioning that the Forum will witness a side activity which will entail a series of workshops tapping on the business outsourcing topic.

On this occasion, Mr. Laith Al Qasem Chief of Party at the USAID Jordan Economic Development Program SABEQ commented "Jordan has a golden opportunity to enter the world of outsourcing due to the huge natural potential that lies within it. We believe our outsourcing strengths lie in sectors such as financial, architecture and engineering, medicine, contract research organizations, renewable energy, as well as environment. On both the public and private sector levels Jordan has launched its new campaign "Turn to Jordan...Your Smart Shore Destination". Our program is committed to improve this sector on all fronts and that includes human resources, infrastructure, and entering new markets." It is worth mentioning that ICT is an enabler platform facilitating the work in the field of business outsourcing.

Representatives from the press interacted with the organizers and inquired about the detailed agenda which promised a fruitful outcome and an imprint in the field of ICT.
